Today, according to the Governor's Press Office, after issuing an executive order to invalidate all remaining local emergency orders based on the COVID-19 emergency, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 21-102, suspending all remaining local government mandates and restrictions based on the COVID-19 State of Emergency. He also signed new legislation (SB 2006) banning vaccine passports and stem government overreach in Florida.

Wellborn, Fla., – Hearthstone Botanical Gardens is pleased to announce that the Japanese Garden is now open to the public to enjoy. Work on the garden began in January of 2020, and the garden was dedicated April 24, 2021.

The U.S. Census Bureau on Monday published its long-awaited 2020 census results. Florida’s population has grown over 14 percent in the last ten years, according to the apportionment data, from 18,900,773 in 2010, to 21,570,527 in 2020.

Madison, Fla., – Visitors were not deterred by the threat of inclement weather and packed the streets to celebrate Madison’s 40th Anniversary of Down Home Days last Saturday, April 24. The welcoming sweet and savory aromas of funnel cakes, smoked meats, cheese fries and other carnival treats wafted through the streets from the various food vendors, whetting everyone’s appetite. Visitors were not disappointed and long lines remained steady at the food booths throughout the event.

Live Oak, Fla., – Former state attorney for the Third Judicial Circuit, Jeff Siegmeister, pleaded not guilty to all counts in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Thursday, April 22, 2021. The charges accumulate to 129 years in prison, if found guilty and given a maximum sentence for each offense.
Mayo and Live Oak, FLA. – Tobacco Free Lafayette and Tobacco Free Suwannee will use the upcoming Tobacco Free Florida Week to draw attention to the root causes of tobacco’s deadly toll on Lafayette and Suwannee County’s Black population.
