Madison, Fla., - Close to 200 enthusiastic Republicans endured 90+ degree heat to

attend the first annual “Madison County Republican Party Roundup”, which was held at the Madison Golf and Country Club on July 9th . The Event was sponsored and organized by the Madison County Republican Party and the Four Freedoms Federated Republican Women of Madison County. Several candidates spoke to the crowd and individually on a broad range of issues during the three-hour event.

Mike Rump, newly elected Chairman for the Madison County Republican Party, said, “This event exceeded our expectations and shows there is huge energy for the Republican Party and their candidates this year, and hopefully for years to come.”

Speakers included Ina Thompson, Madison Mayor Pro-Tem and District 2 Commissioner, Madison County School Board District 5 (Lee) Candidates Charles Medders and Devin Thompson, and District 1 School Board Candidate Katie Knight. Sheriff David Harper addressed the crowd and announced that he is now a Registered Republican. The final speaker was sitting US Congressman, Dr. Neal Dunn who currently represents U.S. Congressional District 2 which stretches from DeFuniak Springs in the east, through Madison and Taylor Counties to the west. Dr. Dunn was very well received at this event. He reminded everyone about the newly drawn Congressional Districts and that Representative Al Lawson is running against him, since Rep. Lawson’s former district has now been completely redrawn. Congressman Dunn stated that his opponent, Al Lawson is voting 100% with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the “Progressive” Democrats who no longer represent the voters of our district. Congressman Dunn spoke of his career in the military and as a practicing veterinary surgeon and businessman. All of the speakers were very well received, and the crowd was energetic.

This event was advertised as a rally to recruit Republican volunteers for the upcoming election season and beyond. It was announced that the next Madison County Republican Club meeting will be held at the Madison Chamber of Commerce office on July 25, 2022, starting @ 7PM sharp.

The Chamber office is located @ 182 NW College Loop, Madison, FL.
