The spread of a new variant of the Omicron strain, BA.2 was detected in Denmark in December. It has now spread throughout the UK and is rapidly spreading in the US. Early last week, US health officials reported only three cases. By the end of the week, officials said that half of the states in the US reported BA.2 cases.

Staff Reports – According to historical research, Flora Batson (1864–1906) was a popular and well-known concert singer, nicknamed “The Double-Voiced Queen of Song” because of her soprano-baritone range. She was often compared to the great Jenny Lind in the press.

Supply chain perils, vaccine breakthroughs of coronavirus variants, people not wanting to return to work because they were making more on unemployment, along with other pandemic woes, has made 2021 only slightly less challenging than 2020. One thing better in 2021 is the one-way anti-covid arrows down the aisles of grocery stores has disappeared!

More than six thousand passengers and crew boarded the Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas cruise ship in Miami, on December 11. Passengers felt it was safe to finally enjoy a vacation on the water as the cruise line required all adults 12 years and older to be fully vaccinated for coronavirus. However, it was docked at PortMiami, Saturday, December 18, with 48 passengers that became ill and tested positive for COVID-19. Those that tested positive were reportedly taken to quarantine immediately.
