In honor of Martin Luther King day, Monday, January 19, Live Oak held its annual parade, honoring the civil rights activist and Baptist minister who was a leader of the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968.
The parade began at RIVEROAK Technical College and headed east on U.S. 129, then north on U.S. 90, west to Walker Avenue.
The parade was followed by an 11 a.m. church service at Ebenezer AME Church, located at 411 Parshley Street in Live Oak. Organizers invited the community to attend.
