SVEC UPDATE

SVEC's  goal is to have power restored to 95% of its consumer-members by the following times - below in this article.

The Suwannee Valley Electric Coop said in a news release yesterday evening, they have restored power to 59% of its consumer-members served by substations that have transmission service, except for the Burnham substation, which became energized late this afternoon. The Blair substation remains without transmission service.

Crews are making their way through the system from all substations in all four counties served by the cooperative. They continue to navigate challenges posed by broken poles, fallen trees, limbs and other debris. Some poles can take up to 4 hours to replace.

381 additional line and tree service workers arrived yesterday, bringing the total workforce available tomorrow to over 1,400.

1,481 workers from SVEC, contractors and assisting utility companies are working this morning to restore power. That’s 43 times the number of the cooperative's employees that work in the field on a normal day.

It’s been just over 72 hours since the restoration effort began, and power has been restored to 59% of the co-op’s consumer members.

Forty-one out of SVEC’s 42 distribution feeders (98%) have been energized since restoration began, and power has been restored to 17,000 members.

Blair substation served by Duke Energy Florida in Hamilton County is the only transmission delivery point not reenergized.

There have been 2,157 documented reports of damage to SVEC’s distribution system, including 458 broken poles.
