READ LOCAL – SUWANNEE VALLEY - beginning October 2

By Lynne Hutchins

Are residents aware that there is an abundance of creative talent in the Suwannee Valley?  Not only are there amazing artists, but many wonderful published authors.

In an effort to introduce the community to local writers and their books, a new program has been established called READ LOCAL.

Approximately twice a month on Wednesdays, READ LOCAL writers will be setting up a table in local businesses, mostly restaurants, where two different area authors will share and sell signed copies of their books with those interested, normally between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Folks visiting those establishments will be able to meet local writers face to face and maybe find their next favorite read!

As of this publish date, they already have six restaurants signed up in Live Oak but expect to double that before the program starts the first Wednesday in October.

Other communities such as Mayo, Branford, and others in the Suwannee Valley are expected to host authors as well.

Information about Read Local events will be posted on their Read Local – Suwannee Valley Facebook page as well as posted in local libraries.

There will be a Meet the Authors event as a launch of the program on September 21st from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Suwannee River Regional Library in Live Oak. Each of their 13 authors currently in the program will tell a little about their work and read a short selection. Visitors will also be able to discover their favorites so they won’t miss them when they “Read Local”!
