STRING OF BURGLARIES – SECURE PERSONAL PROPERTY

LCPD

On Sunday, June 21, 2020 officers of the Lake City Police Department received multiple reports of burglaries.

The string of burglaries are likely connected and many have the same suspect. The suspect has been observed, on a citizen’s video surveillance, checking the doors of vehicles to see if they are locked. During the investigations a common factor was discovered, all of the vehicles that were burglarized were left unlocked. Of the reported burglaries, three firearms were reported stolen.

“Property crimes, such as burglaries, are often crimes of opportunity. For that reason, it is imperative for citizens to remember to remove all valuables from their vehicles and to lock their doors,” said Chief of Police Dr. Argatha Gilmore. “Remember the phrase, ‘Lock it or Lose it’.”
