Libraries to open doors June 1

By Tami Stevenson

All of the libraries of the Suwannee River Regional System will open their doors for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began. On June 1, visitors will be able to use the library’s facilities and check out books but it will be by appointment only in the beginning, according to Director Betty Lawrence. They want to take baby steps and see how the virus develops, Lawrence told the Suwannee Valley Times, Tuesday, during a phone conversation.

Curbside service will be available until the doors open. All programs are suspended at this time but, she said, they do have some available online that visitors can watch.

Lawrence stressed she wanted readers to know they are strongly encouraging visitors to wear masks while inside the facilities, in keeping with the social distancing and safe procedures guidelines.

The Suwannee River Regional System includes nine locations throughout Suwannee, Hamilton and Madison Counties.
