Staff Reports

Visitors to the 35th Annual Christmas on the Square enjoyed beautiful weather this year as downtown Live Oak transformed into a Christmas wonderland with the theme “A Patriotic Christmas”. The three day event, sponsored by the Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce, was rained out on Saturday last year but vendors came back and visitors poured in by the thousands this year. Every street with vendors, was filled with wall to wall people, Saturday, and many were holding packages and bags signifying a great shopping experience and a lucrative weekend for the more than 250 vendors.

Many local dance groups and school choirs performed for the hundreds of parents, family members, visitors and friends as they gathered at the square waiting for their favorite performances. Donald Johns from Starlight Sound Productions has been the sound engineer for the event for years and always manages to make everything look smooth and easy.

The event also featured an Ag. Exhibit, Car & Truck Show, Live Entertainment, Bounce Houses and so much more, with the Lighted Christmas Parade that followed at 6 p.m.
