STARBOOKS CAFE
Every Tuesday from 9:30-11:00 AM the Starbooks Café will be open to the public.  Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and snacks will be served (free of charge).

November 26 – Featuring Thanksgiving
You do not need to bring a story; just come for the companionship.


TRAVELING LIBRARY
Get ready!! Have books, will travel!!   Our blue book wagon will be coming with library books to a location near you.
You may check out books, return books, or even sign up for a library card.  The traveling wagon returns to each location every three weeks.  A sign will be posted at each location with the date and times of the next visit.

DISPLAY CASE
The Jo Kennon Library has a locking display case.  There are 5 shelves, approximately 12” x 12”.  The public is invited to put a display in the case.  Sign up to place your exhibit in our display case.  

ART DISPLAY
Each month a different painting will be featured. Also come see the art in our gallery space, by local artists and refreshed often.


CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES
STORY TIME – Every Wednesday at 10:00 AM. This program is for toddlers through 4 years of age.
Children are encouraged to stop by any time to do a craft.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES
Every Saturday at 1:00 PM.  All school age children are welcome.
First Saturday – Legos
Second Saturday – Makerspaces
Third Saturday – Art
Fourth Saturday – Movie
HANDBELL CHOIR
Every Thursday from 4:30 – 5:30 PM.  All school age children are welcome.  No experience is needed.  The class is taught by Mr. and Mrs. Phipps.

FREE TUTORING
The library is now accepting applications for free tutoring.  If your child is in the first – fifth grades and needs some one-on-one help with either reading or math, please stop by the library to fill out an enrollment form.  Specific tutoring times will be determined by the child’s schedule.


MAIL DELIVERY OF LIBRARY BOOKS
The staff at the library are very proud of their library and want to encourage all of you to use it.  Because it is difficult for some of you to get to the library, we offer home delivery.


Audio or written books will be delivered to your mailbox.  Each person wanting home delivery needs to have a library card and will fill out a home delivery application.  Only one book at a time will be sent.  Individuals can call the library to request a book, or one will be chosen based on the application.  Applications to receive home delivery may be picked up at the post office, each apartment building, Copeland Community Center, or upon request can be sent to your mailbox.

GROUPS USING THE MEETING ROOM
Every Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:30 PM
“Life After ___________” – Monica Serlick will be using the meeting room for a discussion group about life changes.  Monica has been part of the Live Oak community since 1998.  She has a Masters degree in mental health counseling, is a Florida Human Services Board Certified Practitioner, and is a certified family life education therapist.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
FOOD FOR FINES
The Suwannee River Regional Library System will be offering our communities the Food for Fines program in November 2019.  The program offers fine forgiveness for shelf-stable food items.  One food item equals $1.00.  Outstanding overdue fines would be forgiven through a donation.  Damaged or lost fees would not be a part of this program.  All food collected by the Dowling Park Library will be donated to Love, Inc.  All patrons whether they have overdue fines or not may participate.

CARD MAKING
Due to popular demand, Card Making will expand its times.  Join us and instructor, Gail Chapman, to learn how to make cards.  All supplies are provided.

NOVEMBER 11 – LIBRARY CLOSED IN HONOR OF VETERANS DAY

November 12 from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM – Elder Options – Kristina Young and staff will be here for individual conferences concerning Medicare, Supplemental Health Insurance and Prescription Plans.  Make your appointment by calling the Jo Kennon Library at 386-658-2670.

November 14 at 10:00 AM – Discussion Group – The Barbershop Chat (second and fourth Thursdays) is a great opportunity to chit-chat over coffee and cookies, just like in a barbershop.  All are welcome!

November 14 at 1:00 PM – Thanksgiving Potluck - Foodies unite!!!  Join us on the second Thursday of the month when we will be serving a Thanksgiving Feast.  Turkey will be provided by the library.  Bring a side dish and get ready for a delicious meal.  All are welcome!!

November 19 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM – Rock Painting – Paint rocks and visit with other rock star artists.  All supplies are provided.

November 21 from 9:30 – 11:30 AM – Seed Library- Come in and talk with our Master Gardener volunteers and get some seeds!  All you need is a current SRRL library card and you can “check out” up to three packets of seeds every month.  There are no due dates and you’ll never accrue overdue fines.

November 23 at 1:00 PM – Movie – When her aunt tires of caring for her, an orphan goes to live in the Alps with her gruff grandfather, who comes to adore her.  Eventually placed with another family, Heidi fights to join her granddad again.

November 26 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM – SongFarmers of America – Bring your acoustic instruments and join the musicians’ circle, or be in the audience.  All musicians, friends, and families are welcome.  All ages, skill levels, and styles are invited.

TECHIES
Are you needing help with your cell phone, computer, or e-reader? Sign up at the library for one-on-one help.

BOOK BOUQUETS
You might receive a book bouquet from the library.  We will randomly deliver to your door a suitable book decorated by the staff.  The staff at the library just want to spread some good cheer.

DONATIONS
The Jo Kennon Public Library would appreciate your donations of plastic shopping bags.  If possible, smooth them out before donating.


VOLUNTEERS
The library needs plarn (plastic yarn) makers.  Literally thousands of bags have been donated and now it needs to be turned into plarn.  Stop by the library for a quick lesson and supplies to make plarn.  No experience is necessary.
The library is looking for guest readers.  Our story time is every Wednesday at 10:00 AM.  If you are interested in reading or presenting a program to 3 and 4 year olds, please contact the library.
