WillowCreek Fall Festival coming Oct 5

By Gabrielle Stevenson

Fall is on it’s way and WillowCreek Assisted Living Facility in Lake City is celebrating with an annual fall festival. The event is open to the community, Saturday, October 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This fall festival is completely free to the public and the facility welcomes the whole community to bring their families out for a day that promises to pack in all the fun and excitement this time of the year has to offer. The festival’s theme is “All Things Disney” and WillowCreek staff will dress up as Disney characters.

The day will kick off and close with live music by the Santa Fe River Band, featuring local top notch musicians playing a variety of bluegrass and country music. The group was put together especially for this event by Grammy Award Nominee, Nashville studio musician and Branford native, Booie Beach. Two members of the Kentucky Sleepy Hollow Band, a well-known and loved local bluegrass group, will take the stage with Beach - Bleau Oney and Lugie Oney. Also joining them are local musicians, John Roberts and Hardy Meyers, all of whom Beach said are long time friends he has had the great pleasure of playing with since coming back from Nashville.

Performances by the Saints Cheerleaders, the Chabella Dolls and the Southern Rhythm Dance Academy will follow the Santa Fe River Band. The facility will also provide a lunch of hamburgers and hotdogs for all of their guests, as well as a S’mores bar to put everyone in the fall time mood. The event will also host a large number of vendors selling various wares and products for everyone to browse throughout the day.

For the children that attend this event, WillowCreek will hold a costume contest with five prizes. They invite all kids attending (and adults too, just for the fun of it) to come dressed up and ready to compete for the best costumes! A petting zoo and miniature pony carriage rides will also be a highlight of this fall festival, provided by Judy Jarvis and Cathy Bond. Children will also have various games and fall-themed activities to explore at the event, which is set to spark great family memories for all who join in the fun.

WillowCreek ALF Administrator Debbie Brannon, Assistant Administrator April Powell and Activities Director Donna Beach, along with all the staff and residents, truly hope the community enjoys this festival as they celebrate the fall season. The event will be held outside, but the community is welcomed to tour the facility during the festival as well.

Activities Director Donna Beach said, “This event is great because we get to bring the community together and it always puts a smile on all of our residents’ faces. Some residents don’t have family members, so this festival allows them to feel that sense of family and community - seeing the laughter and joy of all the kids running around, hearing the music. That’s what we’re here for, to give them special memories like these.”
