Lake City's Southside Sports Complex Hosting 3 Tournaments This Weekend

Over 100 baseball and softball teams will take the field this weekend at the Southside Sports Complex in Lake City as the park plays host to three tournaments.  On the baseball fields, the USSSA North Florida Spring for the Rings event features more than 70 teams ranging from eight to 14 years of age competing on the park’s 13 baseball fields, plus four fields at the South Columbia Sports Park in Fort White.

At the Girls Softball Complex, nearly 20 teams will be participating in the USSSA Queen of the Rings tournament.   Teams range in age from 10 to 16 years of age, each team playing a minimum of four games starting at 9am Saturday.
“We are so excited to be able to partner with USSSA Baseball and Softball.  They produce high-quality tournaments and bring hundreds of teams and thousands of visitors to our community each year” said Alden Rosner, Sports Marketing Director for the Columbia County Sports Commission.

In addition to the youth events, WSL Softball will draw more than 30 adult softball teams to the park for the Lake City Bash.  Men’s, women’s, coed, and teams consisting of active military personnel will be participating in this weekend-long event.

The three tournaments will attract teams from as far away as Atlanta, GA and Pensacola for what should be a be an exciting weekend of competition.  Tournament action begins Saturday at 9am.  Daily admission for softball events is free, while admission is $5 per adult for USSSA baseball games, children 12 and under free.

The Southside Sports Complex is located at 1963 SW Bascom Norris Drive in Lake City.  The South Columbia Sports Park is located at 17579 SW SR 47 in Fort White.
