FDOT, CSX to perform railroad work on U.S. 129 in Live Oak

During construction, U.S. 129 at railroad crossing will be closed to all traffic.

LIVE OAK, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in conjunction with CSX, will begin a railroad crossing rebuild project on U.S. 129 in Live Oak in early April, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

During the time, U.S. 129 at the railroad crossing will be closed to all traffic and a detour utilizing Perimeter Road will be in effect. The closure is expected to last more than two weeks.

During construction, the railroad tracks are expected to be raised by a half-inch and the current crossing surface will be replaced by a new heavy duty concrete panel crossing surface. Additional work will include milling and resurfacing of the roadway near the railroad tracks and some sidewalk work. The total cost of the project is approximately $350,000.

The railroad crossing surface was last replaced in October 2007.

The project is tentatively scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 3, and the roadway will be closed at 9 a.m. FDOT expects U.S. 129 at the railroad crossing to reopen on Saturday, April 20.
