The expanded 34th Annual Christmas on the Square will start early this year in downtown Live Oak, making this a three day event. On Thursday evening, November 29th, at 5:30 p.m., they will kick off with a Jingle Bell Fun Run/Walk. Following the Walk, a tree lighting ceremony will take place where Mayor Frank Davis will light the Christmas tree in Millennium Park.

The Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event and this year they will feature a movie on Thursday evening after the tree lighting ceremony along with cookies and hot chocolate. They are taking a poll at to see which movie gets the most votes. The choices are The Grinch, The Polar Express, Elf, Home Alone and The Santa Clause.

On Friday, November 30th, at 4 p.m., over 300 arts and craft vendors will open for business through 10 p.m. and will include an agricultural exhibit, live entertainment, Santa Land, bounce houses, sack slides, fireworks and over 30 tons of snow on the square.

Saturday, December 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the arts and crafts vendors will be open again for business along with a car show and more, followed by the annual Christmas Parade of Lights at 6:00 p.m., where hundreds line the streets with lawn chairs, blankets, coolers, mittens, coats and scarves to watch the lighted floats and beautiful displays.
