Staff Reports

The Festive Five performance competition was held last week at Lake City Mall. Proud parents, relatives and fans filled center court Wednesday and Thursday evening last week with cell phones held high recording every move in the holiday themed performances. The competition showcased the talents of The Music Academy Youth Choir, Fancy Dancer Studio, Columbia High School Theatre Troupe 2934 and Danzers for Christ (DFC) Dance Studio.

The winner is chosen by fan votes for the Festive Favorite on their website, thefestivefive.com. Voters had until Sunday, November 18, to cast their vote for their favorite performance. According to their website, the group with the most votes would also be announced in a special Facebook live event. The results of the winner was not out by press-time, however, mall officials told performers results should be posted by Tuesday and they are now in. Congratulations to Columbia High School Theatre Troup 2934 won, garnering the most votes. Details of how close the votes were was not available.

The event is designed to be spread over five nights with the intention of drawing shoppers to the mall and a fun way to spend time with family and friends during the Christmas season. Due to scheduling conflicts and lack of participation, the event was condensed this year.
