Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Cemetery Live Oak

American Legion Live Oak

The American Legion Harry C. Gray Memorial Post 107 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 126 would like to invite all of Suwannee County and surrounding communities to gather with us for this solemn occasion. On this day we remember and honor our military men and women that fought the wars and made the supreme sacrifice to make the United States the greatest nation on the face of the earth.

On Monday, 28 May, 2018, the Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Live Oak. Guest speaker will be Suwannee County Sheriff Sam St. John. the National Anthem will be sun by Joy Geiger of Wellborn. After the Ceremony, the public is welcome to attend the American Flag Retirement Ceremony at 12:30 p.m. behind the American Legion Post. If you have an American Flag that is worn, faded, torn or soiled bring it with you so it can be retired with honor.

Memorial Day is generally associated with the start of the summer season. It is a common tradition to inaugurate the outdoor cooking season with a barbecue. Please stay and join us after the Flag Retirement Ceremony for the dedication of our newly constructed BBQ grill in honor of legion member Lee Peters, Jr. and then sometime around 2:00 p.m. enjoy a free luncheon of chicken, sausage, hot dogs and hamburgers. Donated side dishes are always greatly appreciated.

This is also the day that the .308 Rifle Raffle winning ticket will be drawn. We still have some tickets on sale in the Post Canteen.
