Cruizin on the Suwannee Auto & Truch Show

By Tami Stevenson

The 4th Annual Cruizin on the Suwannee Auto & Truck Show and Autumn Fest 2017 were held last weekend at Advent Christian Village (ACV) in Dowling Park. The Village Square was teaming with life as live music poured out into the village. Antique cars and trucks lined the square along with arts and craft and food vendors, drawing a steady line of visitors throughout the event held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, October 7.

Sweet Harmony, a talented trio singing group from Jasper, sang a few oldies and hymns of praise that caused everyone to stop and appreciate their mellow sound and beautiful harmonies. In the spur-of-the-moment, they sang, in three part harmony, “Happy Birthday,” to Craig Carter, President and CEO of the Village, who was happily working at the barbecue booth at the event. Cassandra Hunter, Arletta Kline, and

Lora Tyre formed the group a couple years ago and they say they are just having fun. Sweet Harmony is available to sing at nursing homes, community events and private parties. To reach Sweet Harmony, email them at sweetharmonytrio@hotmail.com.

James Sutter, ACV’s Communications Specialist, said even though attendance was good this year, it was a little lower than the last few years but (we’re thinking) the weather may have kept some people away. Even though it did not rain, it was in the forecast.

A special thank you also goes out to DJ Scott Carroll for emceeing the event, Suwannee’s ROTC for the American Flag Presentation and Karen Coke for singing the Star Spangled Banner.
