Live Oak – Members of Disabled American Veterans Suwannee Memorial 126, along with cadets from Suwannee High School representing the NJROTC, assembled for a dedication at Veterans Park in Live Oak on April 8. The Disabled American Veterans Suwanee Memorial 126 provided a marker to show honor and support for all veterans who have honorably served our nation.

During the brief, yet reverend ceremony, Suwannee County Veterans Officer Ellis Gray said the newly placed marker is a way to thank our past, present, and future veterans for their service. Gray reminded those in attendance of soldiers who have fought selflessly during conflicts and wars throughout our nation’s young history. He elegantly articulated the hardships that so many soldiers endured from the frozen tundra to the humid jungles abroad. In closing, Gray emphasized that servicemen and women stand on duty every day and have our back.

The marker, which honors veterans of all branches and eras, is permanently located in Veterans Park at the intersection of Howard Street and Pine Avenue in Live Oak.
