Holiday Inn Lake City Hosts Annual Breakfast with Santa Event
Submitted by Executive Director, United Way of Suwannee Valley
Once again Lake City’s Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites has planned the perfect beginning to the holiday season, a Breakfast with Santa event with the proceeds benefiting United Way of Suwannee Valley. This year’s event will be the local Holiday Inn’s sixth annual Breakfast with Santa. It will be held Saturday, December 17, from 8 AM until 11 AM. Guests will enjoy a breakfast buffet featuring scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice, coffee, and hot chocolate. Children will have an opportunity to visit with Santa and tell him their Christmas wish list while families have an opportunity to take photos.
The cost of the event is $5.95 plus tax for children age three to 12 and $10.95 plus tax for adults. To support local community agencies assisting Santa with making Christmas merry and bright for children in our community, a collection box will be available for the donation of toys by guests wishing to contribute.
Holiday Inn & Suites’ generous contribution of the Breakfast with Santa event proceeds is made possible thanks to sponsorships contributed by Esha Patel, 14; and Ria Patel, 12. Esha and Ria are the daughters of Holiday Inn & Suites owners Dr. Minesh Patel and Mrs. Ketna M. Patel.
Sponsoring Breakfast with Santa is a big contribution for two young girls. Esha explained her motivation. “Every year I choose to support United Way, because I care about the children and families within our community. No child should ever go to bed hungry or without adequate shelter and care. It is my belief by making these contributions that my sister and I can have a positive impact.”
Ria’s sentiments paralleled those of her sister. “I feel it is important to contribute back to the community in which I reside,” said Ria. “I want to set an example of giving that will inspire others to follow.”
Esha and Ria have assisted with the event since Holiday Inn & Suites’ initiated the fundraising event. The girls help with marketing the event, delivering promotional posters to businesses for display. This year they will again work at the event and get to know the community that contributes to the local United Way effort.
Both girls also assist annually with the local Holiday Inn & Suites’ Ice Cream for Breakfast event conducted in July. This event benefits Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, Fla., and has been conducted for five years.
Holiday Inn & Suites General Manager Rod Butler shared his enthusiasm for the event. “We look forward to Santa visiting with as many children as possible during the Breakfast with Santa event,” said Butler. “Esha and Ria enjoy this event as do all of the Holiday Inn and Suites staff who work during the event. We hope community families will make Breakfast with Santa a part of their annual family holiday traditions.”
